Improvising on a walking bass line
Improvisation is unpredictable, and in my latest video, "A Tumblin' Bass," I explore this on the piano. I wanted to try a "walking bass" line, a technique I'm still perfecting. Keeping a walking bass steady is tricky, especially when improvising, and the tempo wasn’t always consistent—but that’s part of the process.
Embracing imperfection is key in improvisation. Often, the most interesting moments come from the unexpected. In this session, I allowed myself to play freely, accepting that not every note would be perfect.
